Project

Helio Smart Shelter

Autonomous bus shelter

About

We have designed and created a prototype of a modern public transport shelter - Helio Smart Shelter, which is energy self-sufficient and serves as a passenger information system.

The designers focused on maximizing the utilization of photovoltaic elements for this project, as the bus stop is fully energy-autonomous through LSC (Luminescent Solar Concentrator) cells installed in the roof and on the glass surfaces. These solutions generate energy that powers E-ink devices displaying passenger information. The project aims to cater to the needs of all public transportation users.

The Helio Smart Shelter was designed with safety in mind and integrated with the city through telecommunications and urban monitoring. The designers aim to assist passengers in their daily travels. The shelter's design is meant to blend into both modern and historic architectural cityscapes, fitting seamlessly with old buildings and modern districts alike. For enhanced visual effect and practicality, the edge of the shelter emits light using LSC technology. This increases the energy efficiency of the photovoltaic panels by up to 15%.
